Mitake Art Museum

Mitake Art Museum御岳美術館展示室Mitake Art Museum is located in the upper reach area of Tama River on a scenic spot along the Mitake Ravine Path, with their exhibition centering on modern art.
After enjoying your fill of art, the cafe provides you a place to relax.

Gyokudo Museum

玉堂美術館外観玉堂美術展示室

The museum was established in 1961 as a memorial to Gyokudo KAWAI, a great master in the Japanese arts world who held his studio in Mitake. The exhibit ranges from his early sketches of age 15 to his later works. The museum building was designed by Isoya YOSHIDA, a recipient of the Order of Culture. The building displays the characteristics of the Hida-style old folk houses and Japanese style cloisters, making the museum building itself worth seeing as well.

Kushi Kanzashi Museum

櫛かんざし美術館外観 櫛かんざし美術館展示室The exhibition displays 4000 items centering on Japanese combs and ornamental hairpins from the Edo to Showa period (16th century to the late 1980s), including traditional decorative lipstick cases, makeup bags, wigs and pen cases.

Yoshikawa Eiji House & Museum

吉川英治記念館母屋吉川英治記念館展示室

This house was where the great writer Eiji YOSHIKAWA, whose works include masterpieces such as “Musashi” and “Taiko: An Epic Novel of War and Glory in Feudal Japan”, had evacuated from Akasaka Tokyo during WW2 until 1953. The museum exhibits his manuscripts, magazines, publications including first editions, his research notes, original illustrations, calligraphic works and paintings.

Ome Kimono Museum

Ome Kimono MuseumOme Kimono Museum is close to Yoshino Baigo (plum blossom garden).
The museum building is a remodeled storehouse from 200 years ago, still showing its old wooden folk house air, displaying more than 500 items including pieces from the Imperial wardrobe and colorful historical kimonos.

Ome Municipal Museum of Art

Ome Municipal Museum of Art

The museum is located on a scenic spot overlooking Tama river.
The collection is centered on Japanese painters who lead the modernism of Japanese paintings, Western painters and post war block prints, storing more than 2100 artifacts.

The moment you enter, you will shout “Ah, sweet memories!” to the toys and goodies and packages from the good ol’ days that are on display. The tatami room on the 2nd floor will definitely make you want to lie down for a nap.

Akatsuka Hall (Ome Akatsuka Fujio Kaikan)

青梅赤塚不二夫会館外観レトロ商品博物館のならびにある青梅赤塚不二夫会館Akatsuka Hall (Ome Akatsuka Fujio Kaikan) is next to the Retro Museum of Packing from the Showa Era. As the name of the museum tells, the collection is on Fujio AKATSUKA, the gag comic artist. The “Iyami” character’s “Sheeh!” shouting figure and pictures of the “Bakabon family” remind us of the active Showa era full of family memories and cheerful laughter.
