As many customers visit during the Bon holidays (10-8/18 August) every year, we would like to inform you of a few things to keep in mind.
Rental booking
Group booking
The leader for your group should make a reservation for all members of the group. (Please do not make individual reservations for groups, families or couples, as it takes time to respond on the day and this may delay the departure.)
If you wish to book individually, please indicate the name of the group leader in the additional info box.
Do not book multiple days to cover for bad weather
Some people book multiple days because they are concerned about the weather and only use the bike for 1 day. Please do not do this, this practice is unfair for other customers wishing to book. If you do this you will be charged for the extra days you booked.
Reservation timing
Reservations start coming in 4-5 days in advance (we have 42 e-bikes and 31 hybrid/road bikes/MTBs for a total of 73 bikes, but on some days during the Obon holidays they are all booked up). We recommend making reservations as early as possible as we only have a small number of bikes of certain sizes and models. Click here to make a reservation.
- Please note that if you have not made a reservation and there are no bicycles available on the day, you will not be able to rent a bicycle. However, it is possible that bikes have been returned around 1-2pm. Please ask for the returned bicycles as they can be rented.
- Priority on the day is given to those with reservations. Please note that there is a possibility that customers arriving on the day may have to wait to be served.
- If you have chosen the wrong size or model of bike at the time of booking, there is no guarantee that another size or model will be available on the day! Please make sure you can ride the type of bike you booked.
Parking
Unfortunately we do not have parking for customers. Parking places near Trekkling are Okutama town council coin parking and Hikawa camp site. These are very limited and most parking spots are taken from early morning so please come by train.
Trekkling Shop
During the Obon holidays, the busiest time in the shop is between 10:00 and 12:00. We recommend that you visit the shop at 09:00 if you want to make your departure procedures smooth or if you want to enjoy the whole day thoroughly. (Also, please check the transfer information and timetable in advance as trains are not frequent.) *Bicycles can be returned at 17:00.
Number of trains arriving at JR Okutama Station:
- 9:00: 4 on weekends and holidays, 1 on weekdays.
- 10:00: 3 on weekends and holidays, 2 on weekdays.
- 11:00: 2 on weekends and holidays, 1 on weekdays.
- 12:00: 1 on weekends and holidays, 1 on weekdays.
- 13:00: 2 on weekends and holidays, 2 on weekdays.
Drop off points
During the Obon holidays these return places will be closed.
Ozawa Sake Brewery ⇒ Cannot be returned on 10 August.
Ome Station (Aoyagi Bicycle Shop) ⇒ Cannot be returned from 10 to 15 August.
Kabe Station (Koki Bicycle Shop) ⇒ Cannot be returned on 10, 14 and 15 August.
