A long ride into Yamanashi and Kofu
A customer from the Netherlands came over to experience cycling in the Japanese countryside. He rented our Cannondale gravel road bike for 4 days, unfortunately his SPD-SL shoes were a bit worn and he couldn’t click in. So we swapped to normal pedals.
We added a few frame bags for repair kits and spare tubes. We also gave him a bike bag to use on the train.
His route was over the Yanagisawa pass (1471 m), a tough climb up into Yamanashi, climbing 1100m over 40 km. Then downhill all the way into Yamanashi city and then onto Kofu.
A few days were spend cycling around the area. Daunted by the extreme climb on the way back, he opted to take the train back to Tachikawa and back to Okutama. (using the provided bike bag)
He enjoyed his trip so much he rented the bike for another 2 days to explore the area around Okutama and Ome. Dropping his bike off at our return point in Ome.
